Book Wish Lists
We recently noticed that the support crews of many political prisoners are taking advantage of maintaining online book wish lists for the folks they support. We’ve compiled this list so that you can easily send books to these comrades. Periodically, we will revise and publish the list to keep readers up to date.
Jamil Al-Amin
Daniel Baker
Joe-Joe Bowen
Veronza Bowers
Casey Brezik
Eric King
Jessica Reznicek
Marius Mason
Ed Poindexter
Josh Williams
For some reason Brent’s address does not pop up when checking out the purchase like it’s supposed to.
Elizabeth, here’s what we heard back from the NATO 3 support folks:
“So this is one of those weird things I’m not sure totally sure how to remedy until they get transferred.
Currently the 3 are at Cook County Jail (CCJ), meaning there are some different restrictions on their books. CCJ requires that books come via USPS instead of UPS which is I believe the standard when they are ordered new from amazon. So the only way to get books directly to them from Amazon is if they are ordered from the used section. We’ve never put their addresses on the wishlists because if they get sent via UPS to CCJ they’ll just get returned to the warehouse and the buyer won’t be notified.”
Hopefully this helps.
Thanks… I still think you might want to put in the address so that a person can just automatically order the books right from the wishlist. You can put in a note besides each selection that reads, “Be sure that delivery is via US postal service, not UPS” and also “Order Used – very good or Used – like new” so that people can follow the instructions. That way the book will drop off the wishlist automatically once it is ordered.
Great idea!
Hey NYC ABC, those of us at the Direct Action Monterey Network are sending a copy of the Book of the Dead to Jalil Al-Amin from a local bookstore. Just wanted to let you know since it wasn’t through Amazon and won’t be automatically removed from the list. If we send other books in the future this way, is there a better way to let you know?
That’s awesome! In the future, you can just email us– nycabc at riseup. Thanks again.
Hi all. I just received a lovely note from Tom Manning, sending hugs and love to all – and asking for a specific book. I just ordered and sent it to him, and will also send a note…he was very appreciative of the books he got from this list, some expected and some by surprise. Solidarity and love to you all!! MattM
