NOTE: The Base is on the ground floor, is wheelchair accessible, and has a gender neutral toilet.

It is 2016 and the US government’s war on environmental activists and animal liberationists is still being waged. NYC ABC and Sacramento Prisoner Support have responded with project FANG, a travel fund for earth and animal liberation prisoners.
With Tyler Lang and Kevin Olliff recently moved to halfway houses, the imprisonment of Joseph Buddenberg, and the impending trial of Nicole Kissane, we are reminded of the backwards and arbitrary logic the State uses to deem who are “terrorists.” The truth is, those in power will always villainize those who seek to liberate and valorize those who seek to carry out real destruction.
In light of the coming holiday, we are sending Halloween cards to targets of the Green Scare as part of our every-other-week political prisoner letter-writing dinners.
Since the early 1980s, public relations hacks have been working to reify the term “eco-terrorism.” By 2004, they became successful and a phrase that a decade earlier had no real meaning was now defined by the United States government and used to introduce legislation. In the face of global ecologic destruction and animal torture, those who try to end the suffering are the ones labeled terrorists. Join us in letting the ones who have ultimately been captured know that they have not been forgotten. Read more…

With International Women’s Day approaching is it important to acknowledge the often forgotten radical history of the day itself, which is steeped in political action and uprisings from anticapitalist women in the early 1900’s. The histories of the day itself, the participation of women in all revolutionary and radical struggles, and how the State incarcerates women are constantly being whitewashed. With fighting that tendency in mind, we will be writing cards to six women political prisoners at this Tuesday’s letter writing dinner.
Please join us to hear about and write to Debbie Africa (MOVE), Janet Africa (MOVE), Janine Africa (MOVE), Chelsea Manning (military whistleblower), Rev. Joy Powell (anti-police violence organizer), and Rebecca Rubin (ELF/ALF).
If for whatever reason you cannot join us, we hope you will still write to them:

There is a call out to send him postcards and letters to help him during this tumultuous time. We will have postcards available on Tuesday to send to him, but if you will not be joining us we encourage you to send some supporting words his way at:

So cops in Chicago now function like the thugs of the CIA by having a black site where they torture and disappear folks they arrest. Let that set in for a minute. Chicago cops, with a storied history of corruption and brutality, operate an off-the-books compound where they interrogate folks. Ask many of the prisoners we support and they’ll describe similar torture during their detentions and/or imprisonments. Speaking of supporting political prisoners, it’s time again for the every-other-week NYC ABC political prisoner letter-writing dinner. In this month of women’s history, we offer our solidarity to female rebels.
Come find out more about Debbie, Janet, and Janine Africa, Maya Chase, Chelsea Manning, Rev. Joy Powell, Megan Rice, and Rebecca Rubin. We’ll also have other political prisoner news, so come enjoy a meal with friends (new or old).
We expect to see you on Tuesday. If you can’t make it, please take the time to write letters to the prisoners:

Well, here we are, saddened. Another space in NYC is closing. We’ve been fortunate to call CAGE home to our every-other-week Political Prisoner Letter-Writing Dinners for over two years. So we thank them for providing us space to support political prisoners and hope they find a new home soon.
In light of the coming holiday, we are sending Halloween cards to targets of the Green Scare.
Since the early 1980s, public relations hacks have been working to reify the term “eco-terrorism.” By 2004, they became successful and a phrase that a decade earlier had no real meaning was now defined by the United States government and used to introduce legislation. Now we have comrades serving decades for economic sabotage and allegations of thought crime. With several recent animal liberation actions, and Tyler Lang & Kevin Olliff being tried as terrorists, it is clear that Earth and animal liberationists are both still active and still in the cross-hairs of the feds. Join us in letting them know they are not forgotten.

NYC ABC‘s disdain for cops is storied, but did you know we harbor the same vitriol for landlords? Oh, sure. They’re in the same category as bosses, and the only boss we listen to is named Springsteen. So it comes as no surprise when a negligent landlord (it almost sounds redundant, no?) fails to tend to his building, people die. And that’s not hyperbole. Of course landlords and bosses are but two of the functionaries that keep us oppressed under the state and capitalism. And when folks have the audacity to fight back? Well, that’s when the state is waiting with cages for the rebels. We in NYC ABC stand in support of such imprisoned comrades. The most frequent way we do that is through our every-other-week letter-writing dinners. And in this month of women’s history, we offer our solidarity to female rebels.
Come find out more about Debbie, Janet, and Janine Africa, Chelsea Manning, Marie Mason, Rev. Joy Powell, and Rebecca Rubin. We’ll also have other political prisoner news, so come enjoy a meal with friends (new or old).

United States Government Submits Sentencing Brief for Rebecca Rubin (Operation Backfire)
Today, the United States government submitted its sentencing brief in regards to “Operation Backfire” defendant Rebecca Rubin. Given that Rubin entered a non-cooperating plea agreement, the state is asking for a sentence of 90 months, seven and a half years. For actions taken on behalf of the Earth and its human and non-human inhabitants, we in NYC ABC find this disgusting. Rebecca should be free, back with her family and loved ones!
Rebecca Rubin plead guilty to taking part in Earth Liberation Front actions, including actions taken against Bio-Devices in California; U.S. Forest Products in Oregon; and the Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. She also participated in the liberation of horses and the arson of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse Facilities in Litchfield, California and Burns, Oregon.
Rubin is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on Monday, January 27th. If you are in or near Portland, Oregon, please consider showing your support.
The complete sentencing brief can be viewed here.
Nearly 100 in the streets for NYC ABC NYE Noise Demo
There is a superstition that says we should leave money outside and bring it in on New Year’s Day to insure financial prosperity for the year. We in NYC ABC are hoping this idea can be extended. On January 1st, NYC had Lynne Stewart brought home and we hope this is an omen that many more of our imprisoned comrades come home to us this year.
On the night before Lynne Stewart’s flight from Texas, we heeded the international call for a night of New Year’s Eve noise demos. We held ours outside of MCC New York— the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center that currently holds local anarchist grand jury resister Jerry Koch and until the time of his recent sentencing imprisoned anarchist hacker Jeremy Hammond.
The night was raucous, with over 70 folks coming to show solidarity with prison rebels on the other side of the wall. Warehoused in a brick and mortar tower, we could see the silhouetted outlines of prisoners in their cells.

Occasionally lights would flicker, letting us know that we were connecting. As a makeshift marching band members of Rude Mechanical Orchestra— augmented by air horns, pots & pans, and an assortment of drums, forced lower Manhattan awake, some folks from Stop the Anarchist Witch-hunt (SAW) served up hot cocoa.
Amidst anti-police and anti-prison chants, folks were making their solidarity known— with raised voices and the clamor of assorted noise-makers.
By about 11:00pm, with the crowd energetic, but on the verge of hypothermia, the following statement was read as a call and response, insuring that our comrades inside could hear it:
“To many it feels like we live in a time like no other with surveillance and repression at every turn, but also resistance, rebellion, and open revolt. This is neither the new golden nor dark age, it is simply another moment in time where we can collectively force conflict with a fucked up system.
Every day there are revolts of varying scale, most of which you never hear about. For those captured in revolt, we come together in protest and celebration. Through the din of revelry and rage, we tie ourselves to those who suffer systematized white supremacy and war against the working class, behind steel bars and safety glass.
Prison is a means of social control to be absolutely destroyed.
Here’s to the total destruction of a prison-based society!
Tonight we bring with us the courage of Sundiata Acoli, the ferocity of Joe-Joe Bowen, the wisdom of Russell Maroon Shoatz.
We remember in every act of rebellion against the state, our deceased comrade Herman Wallace— your legacy will never be forgotten.
We hold in our hearts comrades soon to be or recently imprisoned: Jerry Koch, Kevin Olliff, Rebecca Rubin, and Brian Vaillancourt.
YOU. ARE NOT. ALONE.”
The refrain of those last four words was screamed out, time and again. Not long after, folks left in small groups, making sure not to be snatched up by any of the myriad cops who would happily see us on the other side of the wall.
