NYC/NYE – Noise Demo Against the Prison Industrial Complex, In Solidarity with PPs and POWs

NYE 2014_WEBWHAT: Noise Demo Against the PIC, for the Liberation of PPs + POWs
WHEN: 9:00pm, Saturday, December 31st
WHERE: Metropolitan Correction Center (MCC, the federal prison in downtown Manhattan); Pearl Street, between Cardinal Hayes Place and Park Row (J to Chambers Street or 4/5/6/ to City Hall)
BRING: Noisemakers, air horns, drums, anything that is loud!

On the noisiest night of the year in New York City, come help us remind folks locked up that they are not alone. NYC Anarchist Black Cross, in response to an international call for noise demonstrations outside of prisons, is asking folks to join us outside of the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in lower Manhattan. Come, not to appeal to authority, speak truth to power, or any other contrivance, but rather to stand arm in arm with comrades and show direct solidarity to those on the other side of the wall.

The state, writ large, is targeting anarchists all across the United States and abroad. This will be both protest and celebration. To keep the cold at bay, comrades will again be on hand with hot cocoa to keep the vocal cords nice and warm.

This week at the twice monthly NYCABC letter writing dinner for political prisoners we will be focusing on Joseph Buddenberg.  Joseph pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) after being indicted, along with Nicole Kissane who is awaiting sentencing, for “travel in interstate and foreign commerce for the purpose of causing physical disruption to the functioning of animal enterprises, to intentionally damage and cause the loss of real and personal property, including, but not limited to, animals and records used by the animal enterprises, and caused economic damage in an amount exceeding $100, 000″ by allegedly releasing thousands of animals from fur farms and destroying breeding records in Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. For this, under a non-cooperating plea agreement, he has been labeled a terrorist and is serving two years in federal prison.

Joseph was recently transferred to the medium security federal prison FCI Victorville where he is expected to be for the remainder of his sentence.  Before he was transferred, Joseph was recently having trouble receiving his mail and gaining access to vegan food at USP Lompoc.  There was a successful call in campaign to get him the dietary needs in accordance with his ethics.

If you can’t make it to dinner, please write to Joseph at:

Free Them All!It is 2016 and the US government’s war on environmental activists and animal liberationists is still being waged. NYC ABC and Sacramento Prisoner Support have responded with project FANG, a travel fund for earth and animal liberation prisoners.

With Tyler Lang and Kevin Olliff recently moved to halfway houses, the imprisonment of Joseph Buddenberg, and the impending trial of Nicole Kissane, we are reminded of the backwards and arbitrary logic the State uses to deem who are “terrorists.” The truth is, those in power will always villainize those who seek to liberate and valorize those who seek to carry out real destruction.

In light of the coming holiday, we are sending Halloween cards to targets of the Green Scare as part of our every-other-week political prisoner letter-writing dinners.

Since the early 1980s, public relations hacks have been working to reify the term “eco-terrorism.” By 2004, they became successful and a phrase that a decade earlier had no real meaning was now defined by the United States government and used to introduce legislation. In the face of global ecologic destruction and animal torture, those who try to end the suffering are the ones labeled terrorists. Join us in letting the ones who have ultimately been captured know that they have not been forgotten. Read more…

It’s that time of year again– love is in the air and animal liberationists are out taking direct action to free caged and tortured fur-bearing animals. Unfortunately, the federal government has a long-standing preoccupation with folks determined to free non-human animals and fight for the defense of this planet. As such, thanks to instrumental support by industries that profit from animal exploitation, there exists legislation that allows the feds to investigate and prosecute acts of property destruction and animal liberation as terrorism. And when folks get caught up in that mess? Well, that’s when NYC ABC shows our support in a tangible way– through letter-writing.

This week we are writing to Joseph Buddenberg, who reported to federal prison just days ago. Joseph pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA). For this, under a non-cooperating plea agreement, he has been labeled a terrorist and will serve two years in federal prison.

If are unable to join us on Tuesday, you can still write to Joseph (or send him a book):
