New Campaign: Welcome Home Jason Sutherlin (Tinley Park Five)

Jason Sutherlin of the Tinley Park 5 is due to be released from prison in September. So Bloomington ABC, Denver ABC, NYC ABC, and Sacramento Prisoner Support have launched a campaign to start a release fund for Jason.

Jason Sutherlin is the LAST of the five to be released, rejoining us in September. By the time Jason is released he’ll have been locked up for almost 2.5 years, will have a felony record, and certain things just won’t be the same. Let’s help him make a smooth transition! When it comes to thanks, I don’t know where to begin. Do I mention certain individuals or organizations? Do I start with the cards and letters full of love and support? How about the amount of donations that came in for the book drive back at Robinson’s library? Or, do I lead off with all of the fundraising that kept money in the commissary and continues to pour in for help post-release? I should probably lead off with the lovely lady in my life that has sacrificed and endured so much for me and our relationship the last couple of years. Maybe it should be the amazing legal team that stepped up and have continued to help to this day. I can’t forget my new friend that has opened his home and heart to me in my greatest time of need. I must mention all of the people that used to flood the courtroom in solidarity every time they would walk us in there. With so many wonderful people, faces old and new, doing so many amazing things, it’s impossible for my thanks to have a beginning or an end. The thanks that I have for all of you is so deep and infinite that it can’t be measured or explained. Any act of kindness, no matter how big or small, has meant the world to me, as well as the other four. Thankfully, we’re down to just two, and in a few weeks it’ll just be one. Let’s show my brothers our love, support, and appreciation for them. Thank every last one of you for all you’ve done and continue to do!

A request from Alex Stuck (Tinley Park Five)

By way of Sacramento Prisoner Support and Bloomington Anarchist Black Cross, we’ve received a request from Tinley Park Five prisoner Alex Stuck. Alex is looking for books and articles. The requests read:
“Alex Stuck of the Tinley Park 5 wanted it to be spread around a little that he’d very much appreciate any book by Milton Erickson or Moshe Feldenkrais. He’d also like  articles on hypnotherapy. He did not request any specific titles, just anything by Milton Erickson and anything by Feldenkrais or by others about the Feldenkrais method. he is also interested in transpersonal psychology and kinesics.”

Anything you can do to help this antifascist comrade is appreciated. With Running Down the Walls 2013 under a month away, we in NYC ABC have our hands full. But before we move forward, we give a strong Black August salute to our imprisoned Black liberation comrades. And while the state’s types of repression may have become more refined and better concealed over the decades, they still exist and are still heavily used. NYC ABC responds to the repression of comrades with unflinching support, most commonly with our every-other-week political prisoner letter-writing dinners. This week we are writing to Jason Hammond, the recently-jailed brother of alleged Anonymous and LulzSec hacker Jeremy Hammond.

On July 11th, Jason Hammond was arrested and charged with armed violence, aggravated battery and mob action. The arrest was made in connection with Hammond’s alleged role in the Tinley Park Five case. Over a year ago, in May, around 20 anti-fascists attacked a meeting of known white supremacists at a restaurant in Tinley Park, Illinois. Jason is charged with participating in the action against white supremacists and neo-Nazis attending the “5th annual White Nationalist Economic Summit and White Nationalist Meet-and-Greet.” Not a particularly catchy name, but then again, look who you’re dealing with.

As of now, Jason Hammond’s bail is set at $100,000 with no bond. That means in order to be released before his trial, his supporters have to come up with the entire $100,000.

To many folks close to Jason–- family, friends, close comrades, the timing of the arrest is simply too coincidental as his brother, Jeremy, is facing sentencing in mid-November. Jason has been steadfast and tireless in supporting his brother.
